Flying In a Airplane
When me and my dad were driving to the airport in Salt Lake City, I said, “I don’t want to get on the airplane because I am scared of heights.”
He said “Nothing is going to happen to us just don’t be scared.” It was 12 o’ clock in the morning, and we had to get up early because our flight arrived at 7, and Salt Lake was 4 hours away. During the ride, I was asleep because it was very early in the morning.
I woke up at 2, and I said “Where are we right now?” He said, “We are in the middle of nowhere in Utah.” I watched out the window because I couldn’t go back to sleep. I was very bored, and in my mind, I was wondering what could happen in an airplane. I had never gone on one before, and in the news, I was hearing about airplane crashes and where passengers were either dead or injured. I needed to overcome my fear of heights.
Since I was little, I have been terrified of heights because I thought that my legs were going to get unbalanced, or I would lose control and fall down and injure myself.
It was 3 in the morning, from and I said, “Where are we now?”
My dad said, “We are in Ogden and we’re still 30 to 45 minutes from the Salt Lake City International Airport.” I was very nervous because the pilot of the airplane could crash on accident or on purpose.
We were passing Ogden, and I said “Are we there yet?” My dad said, “No. We are not there yet.” I was tired and nervous at the same time. There was a sign on the freeway that said to turn to the airport, so we did, and my nerves went up. We were almost there, and I was about to fall asleep. I saw the airport. We entered, and I was staring because I had never been to an airport. We entered the gate and had to pay to set in and find a parking space. We went up to the first row, and there was no parking space. Then he realized we were in the wrong column. We had to be in the column on the ticket we got from the front entrance.
We found the column, found a parking space, got our backpacks, and went straight to the airport. I was very nervous. I had never been in an airport, and I didn’t know what to expect. As soon we were inside, there were a whole bunch of people, and we were in the middle of the crowd, trying to find our way into customs. We found the border secruity and had to wait in a line so they could check us out. The wait was not that long, There were just a couple of people in front of us, and then they checked me out.
The customs officer said, “Sir, what do you have in your backpack?”
I said, “I have clothes, shampoo, shoes, and clothes.”
After that, he brought me into a metal detector and, I went out. My dad was waiting for
Me. They put our backpacks through a metal detector and we had nothing that was illegal or anything, so that they let us pass. Next, we found the waiting room for our flight. My feet were shaking. We waited over 3 hours there, and they called us into our flight. I was nervous, but I went inside the airplane. The first thing I did was pull open my window. Soon, the plane took off. It was shaky but when I looked out the window, I realized riding in an airplane isn’t so bad.
Personal Narrative Reflection
Please answer all questions in complete, grammatically correct sentences.
Explain the process you went through to write this paper. Please be specific.
I used events that happened to me in summer and try to combine all the things when I went to the airport into one story
What qualifies this paper as a narrative? What are the requirements for this genre and how did you meet them?
I basically told the whole story about me riding to the airport
What is one part of your story that you think turned out really well? What do you like about that part?
The part that I liked is the arriving to the airport part because I remember when we arrived to the airport.
